John Russell KIA on the March from Concord

Russell arrived with the Royal Irish at Philadelphia on 11 July 1767. He served with the Grenadier Company throughout its American Service travelling to Ft. Pitt, Ft. Chartres, Cahokia and then from Philadelphia to New York City before embarking on the Empress of Russia for Boston in October 1774. He is not mentioned in any reports other than muster returns.

He had the inopportune honor of being the first member of the Royal Irish killed during the American Revolution. He marched to Lexington, but didn't make the return trip. He was listed as killed in action on 19 April 1775. He was the only member of the regiment killed on that day.
